in the summer of 2005 Elspeth Owen took on the persona of Material Woman which
she had adopted for an earlier extended performance in
the Taxi Gallery.
leaving
home on the day of the summer solstice she was sent first to someone unknown
to her and then on from that person to another new one and so on and so on,
thereby creating a network or looselink between a succession of strangers.
this
journey continued until the end of September 2005.

acted as a messenger, travelling slowly on foot, in this era of instant communication,
to deliver direct and personal messages.
